Besides that, we need to put on face mask.

Handphone and Clean room

Thanks to Mr. Leong for pointing me regarding the usage of handphone in Clean room. Clean room is the hard disk production room. I will post some of the pictures of clean room. Handphones are not allowded in clean room because the electromagnetic wave will affect the quality of the hard disk produced. Furthermore, electromagnetic signal is used to write/read on the media/disk. So imagine the havoc that a person can cause by bringing handphone inside the clean room.

It's been a while since i last updated my blog. This was due to busy routine that i had for the past few weeks. However, i have decided to continue to update as requested my visiting supervisor. As a start i would like to introduce you all to cleanroom. Cleanroom is very crucial to my department, process development. Majority of manufacturing process is done in cleanroom. There are some rules and regulations that we need to adhere before, during and after entering cleanroom.

The do's and dont's.

1. No handphones.
-this is due to cleanroom is contam and particles free place and it might damage the phone.

2. No food and drinks.

3. Do wear hair cover before entering the cleanroom.
-contam free and hair has many small particles associated.

4. No pen or paper to be brought into the cleanroom.

5. Failure to follow any of these rules will cause the sustain team to take actions.

Day 2 6/4/2010 until Day 5 9/4/2010

Since it is very hard for me to maintain daily blog, i have decided to keep it on weekly basis. Second day was exciting as i was given the chance to enter the cool room, testing and production area. I was required to wear junk suit before entering cooal room. This is to avoid contamination of particles on the disk. The entire assembly process must be done in a clean environment. But before that, wd is a giant producer of hard disk drives (HDD). HDD is used to store information and data. Their nearest competitor is Seagate and CK. I was intoduced with the machines and the process flow. I have attached the pictures and videos to introduce some of the process flows.

First Week

Day 1 5/4/10

It was rather a hectic day. I was officially assigned to staff engineer, Mr. Eugene Paul. A lot registration procedures went on, my id number, M406444, and email yuvaraja.gokulabalaji.wdc.com. I am pround to be in wd (Western Digital) community, American based company. My work schedule is from 8.00 am to 5.20 pm monday to friday. I met some human resource members and had some briefing on the rules and regulations. They were very helpful and hospitable.
